Chicago is known as a city of neighborhoods; each space having its own culture, history, heritage, and significance. For many African-Americans in Chicago, some of these neighborhoods represent more than a public space; they represent the intersection of history and the excitement of the future. Bronzeville, one of the locations many African-Americans came to settled during The Great Migration, is steeped in history and historical significance. Recent changes in the neighborhood are causing some to question how the rich history of the neighborhood will be impacted – for better or for worse.

reClaiming Bronzeville™ is a space to catalog and share the powerful stories about the neighborhood and an attempt to rewrite the narrative about and reclaim the history of Bronzeville. We are reClaiming the history, legacy, and vibrance of Bronzeville…one story at a time.
